Áwet New York is collaborating with the DJ Henry Dream Fund for an exclusive summer pop-up event aimed at showcasing and supporting Black-owned brands.
The event, named the "Black-Owned Brands Summer Bazaar," is scheduled for August 3rd, running from noon until 4 p.m. at The House of the Dragonfly, residence of Danroy T. Henry Sr. and Angella Henry, located on Martha's Vineyard.
Each participating brand will contribute a percentage of their sales to the DJ Henry Dream Fund, a charity focused on providing opportunities and support to underserved youth. The fund offers financial assistance to help young people engage in sports, performing arts, and summer programs.
Moreover, Áwet is collaborating with Black Joy and its founder, Chef Ting, to offer fresh, healthy food that reflects the Diaspora.
"We are excited to unite these amazing Black-owned businesses and champion a cause that is deeply meaningful to us," stated a spokesperson for Áwet New York. "This event not only showcases the creativity and perseverance of Black entrepreneurs but also makes a significant impact by backing the DJ Henry Dream Fund."
Áwet Woldegebriel further commented, "Martha's Vineyard has emerged as a beacon of Black success and achievement, celebrated for its longstanding tradition of embracing diverse communities of color. Renowned as a seasonal residence for luminaries such as the Obamas, Spike Lee, and Oprah, the island presents an alternative perspective on Black experience in America. Through the introduction of this marketplace, our objective is to enrich and expand upon this narrative."
