Canadian Swimmers Shine at Paris Olympics: Medley Teams Advance to Finals

The Canadian men's and women's medley relay teams have achieved commendable success by advancing to the swim finals of the Olympic Games held in Paris.


Ingrid Wilm, Sophie Angus, Mary-Sophie Harvey, and Penny Oleksiak achieved an impressive accomplishment by registering the second-fastest qualifying time in a race that comprised the backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle disciplines, carried out in sequential order.


Blake Tierney, Finlay Knox, Ilya Kharun, and Javier Acevedo collaboratively achieved an admirable feat, securing the seventh-fastest qualifying time out of the eight countries progressing to the highly anticipated men's final.


Taylor Ruck, hailing from Kelowna, B.C., showcased her exceptional skills in the women's 50-meter freestyle event by securing a position among the top 16 swimmers in the semifinals. With a commendable performance in qualifying, she proudly achieved an impressive eighth-place tie.


The Sunday medley relays will mark the end of nine days of Olympic swimming, with several Canadian athletes still competing for a podium finish in the finals held on Saturday.


Summer McIntosh is currently pursuing her fourth medal and aiming for her third gold in the women's 200-meter medley. Sydney Pickrem will also be joining her in the final competition.


Josh Liendo and Kharun stood poised to compete in the highly anticipated 100-meter butterfly event, showcasing their exceptional athletic abilities. Additionally, Canada emerged triumphant, securing a well-deserved position in the mixed relay final.
